DISTRIBUTE YOUR FORCES: A STRATEGY OF CONTROLLED CHAOS
(The sixth strategy)

The most important elements of war are speed and adaptability - the ability to make decisions and act faster than the enemy. But it's not easy to achieve that these days. We are being overloaded with more information than ever before, and this makes it difficult to think and make decisions. We have to manage an increasing number of people spread over considerable distances, and we increasingly find ourselves in situations of uncertainty. Remember the lesson of Napoleon, that greatest of generals: impetuosity and flexibility can only be developed by having a maneuverable and mobile structure of troop organization. Break up your army into small independent groups capable of acting independently and making decisions.
