APRIL FOOLS DAY

It’s quite hard to write anything new about April Fool's Day, and it is difficult to celebrate it when it is each and every day of the year in a global scope. The scale of today's mental catastrophe was predicted less than a century ago, when the outcome of a consumerist society became clear to men wise and responsible.

Not only has society turned into a crowd of buyers, but the elites themselves have also degraded – not only political ones, but also “servant”cultural, industrial, and educational ones... There is nothing to say about the military elite, steadily declining since the end of World War II.

All this on a global level.

And at the local level, our Center proceeds from the simple truth that "despondency is relaxation of the soul, exhaustion of the mind." That is why we are establishing the Fool of the Year Award, and will announce winners at the annual reporting meeting of the ICDS.

The inspirer of this initiative is our peer - a flamboyant communist (with membership ID) in the 80s; an equally ardent nationalist from the 1988; an officer who never been in battle; a colonel who hadn’t commanded a platoon. He faithfully fulfilled his civic duty, under all political regimes reporting to the leadership and superiors about manifestations of unreliability and disloyalty. As a true patriot, is an inhabitant of California for almost a decade.
