FALL OF KARS MILITARY STRATEGIC/TACTICAL/PSYCHOLOGICAL REASONS
(Lessons to be learned)

The "Military History" series presents in Armenian a summary of the historiographical work of Ph.D in History Gevorg Yazynchyan "The True Reasons for the Fall of Kars (1920)", published in 2007 in the "Issues of Strategy and Security". It is addressed not only to a wide audience of readers, but also for officers and generals of the Armed Forces.

The author studies what happened "...that in the conditions of multiple superiority of personnel and ammunition of the Armenian army, the enemy in several hours "without a fight" entered the fortress-city with a multi-tiered system of fortifications, with more than 700 artillery pieces and countless other ammunition...with more than 120 officers, including three generals (Araratyan, Pirumyan, Ghazaryan) and one minister (Babalyan)."

Analyzing all the reasons, Yazynchyan comes to the conclusion that the fall and loss of Kars were an inevitable consequence not of external causes, but of the decayed ideological and moral-psychological state of the Armenian society (including the army), and perverted social relations.
